Yorkshire poets Philip Larkin and Ted Hughes had very different personalities and ideas about poetry, leading to a long-standing and often hilarious rivalry. WORKSHOP: The Symmetry of Story with Michael Stewart

Whether you are a novelist or a script writer, structure is key.
This workshop will look at narrative structure that can be applied to any full-length writing. It will examine inciting incidents, turning points, mid-points and climaxes. It will explore the difference between 3-Act and 5-Act structure and examine how all narrative art yearns to achieve symmetry.
Using a range of materials across history, genre and media, such as The Godfather, Macbeth and Room, it will offer a practical approach to form and content.

Kate Fox’s Hyperlexic Cabaret and Q&A

Stand-up poet Kate Fox performs and hosts an evening with autistic genderqueer poet Sez Thomasin and autistic poet and lecturer Dr James McGrath, who reads from his new work, an autistic figuration.
Followed by a Q&A to discuss Hyperlexia (advanced reading ability) and autistic identities.
This Autism-friendly event will have low lighting and hand waving instead of clapping.
