About the event
Get your creative juices flowing and enter the anniversary poetry competition organised by the Huddersfield & District U3A. Note: this competition is open to U3A members only, but all are welcome to come along and find out more about the University of the Third Age and what they do.
Any poems (up to a maximum length of 32 lines) will be considered (no previous competition winners please) and, with your permission, may be used to promote the work of the U3A in the future.
An all-embracing theme of ‘LIVE, LAUGH, LEARN – ENJOYING LIFELONG LEARNING’ will be used to judge the competition. You can send your entries to the U3A office either via email or on paper – printed or handwritten. You can even include a drawing/photo as long as it is non-copyright, public domain or your own work.
Entries will be welcomed from the 1 February 2024 until 31 July 2024. Up to three entries per person please. Your name and membership number should be firmly attached and included with your poem(s).
Find out more, come and meet the organisers or hand in your entry inside the Huddersfield Literature Festival Tipi in the Lawrence Batley Theatre Courtyard between 12.30pm-1.30pm.
Prize winners and those highly commended will be announced at the anniversary dinner in September 2024.
