Gavin Esler – Britain Is Better Than This – HYBRID EVENT

The award-winning broadcaster, writer and journalist Gavin Eslerdiscusses his latest book Britain Is Better Than This, an urgent and timely exploration of a political system in peril –and what we must do to save it.

Drawing on his decades-long experience as a political commentator, including 12 years presenting the BBC’s Newsnight, Gavin Esler sheds light on the failures at the heart of Britain’s political system and its culture of lies, distrust and corruption.

Following events such as the MP expenses scandal, Brexit, ‘Partygate’ and the farcical premiership of Liz Truss, he looks at how we can build a better future.

“The most compelling, lacerating description of the Muppet Show that is British public life I have yet read.” Will Hutton

Gavin Esler is an award-winning television and radio broadcaster, writer and journalist. He is the author of five novels and several non-fiction books, including The United States of Anger, drawing on his experience as the BBC’s Chief North America Correspondent; Lessons from the Top, a study of how leaders tell stories to make other people follow them; Brexit Without the Bullshit and How Britain Ends.
