WORKSHOP: Bibliotherapy

£0.00£3.00

Date: Saturday 21 March 2020 at 1:30pm

Location: Lawrence Batley Theatre, Queen Street, Huddersfield HD1 2SP

Free but booking required.

Bibliotherapy is the use of words – poetry, fiction, song lyrics – to support and improve positive outcomes for people with mental health and wellbeing issues.

Bibliotherapy offers the chance to increase coping skills, supports people to take control of their own health and wellbeing and builds resilience. It can help to reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression, and allow participants to feel less isolated, as well as increasing self-esteem and social skills.

An interactive and enjoyable taster session from Words in Mind, delivered by Heather Cobb, a volunteer, poet and activist with her own lived mental health experience.

(Note: a second Bibliotherapy Workshop will be held on Tuesday 24 March from 1.30pm-3pm).

Saturday 21 March is our Lawrence Batley Theatre Takeover Day. You can view the full day’s programme here.
