Sat 25 Mar, 4:00 pm–5:00 pm

About the event
Popular crime fiction writers Penny Batchelor and Nell Pattison discuss their writing journeys, how they create believable characters and their latest addictive domestic noir thrillers, Penny’s Her New Best Friend and Nell’s Friends Don’t Lie.
Penny Batchelor writes domestic noir thrillers with secrets, lies and lots of twists! Her debut novel My Perfect Sister was longlisted for The Guardian’s Not the Booker Prize 2020. Her second novel, Her New Best Friend is a twisting tale of intrigue and deception about the lengths a mother will go to in order to protect her children. Penny is an alumna of the Faber Academy online ‘Writing a Novel’ course, a freelance journalist and a former BBC content producer and website editor for educational institutions. She lives in Warwickshire with her husband. Penny is passionate about positive disability representation in fiction.
Nell Pattison is the author of three novels featuring British Sign Language interpreter Paige Northwood: The Silent House, Silent Night and The Silent Suspect. Her standalone novels are Hide and her latest Friends Don’t Lie, an unputdownable thriller perfect for fans of Ruth Ware and Lisa Jewell, with enough dark twists to give you whiplash! Nell studied English at university, then became a teacher specialising in Deaf education. She has been teaching in the Deaf community for 14 years, and began losing her hearing in her 20s. She lives in North Lincolnshire with her husband and son.
