THIS EVENT HAS NOW SOLD OUT!
Kirklees Year of Music 2023, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival & HLF present: a free listening and creative activities workshop with local artist and musician Chris Ruffoni.
Listening to our sonic surroundings is a powerful way to find moments of connection and calm. This workshop incorporates mindfulness and sound making to reveal our capacity to listen. We’ll experiment with creative activities to inspire words drawn from sound.
Chris Ruffoni is an artist and musician based in Marsden, West Yorkshire, working with sound, music and sculpture. Chris employs chaotic-mechanical systems inspired by nature and combines them with musical instrument design to create sculptural works for installation, indoor/outdoor, and performance. Chris is currently developing new work as part of his Developing Your Creative Practice project funded by Arts Council England. Work has been shown at art and music festivals including Supernormal, Green Man, End of the Road and Kensington and Chelsea Art Week. Two releases (cassette/digital) on Them There Records. Recordings have been supported by Sturat Maconie’s Freak Zone, BBC 6 Music
Selected to be part of Yorkshire Sculpture International’s Sculpture Network, May 2020.
