The Grist Literary Salon, in collaboration with the University of Huddersfield’s Creative Writing Society, present: Jim Greenhalf in conversation with Michael Stewart.
The event includes readings and will be followed by an Open Mic.
Jim Greenhalf was born in 1949 and grew up in East London. A news and feature writer for the Bradford Telegraph & Argus for almost 40 years, he has written 12 books of poetry, including The Dog’s Not Laughing; The Unlikelihood of Intimacy in the Next Six Hours; In the Hinterland; Blue on Blue and The Man in the Mirror. He lives in Saltaire. One of the original contributors to Grist, he has just completed his third poetry collection for Smokestack Books. Cromwell’s Head follows on from Dummy! and Breakfast at Wetherspoons. Other books: Salt & Silver: A Story of Hope; and It’s a Mean Old Scene: A History of Modern Bradford Since 1974.
Michael Stewart is an award-winning writer of 10 books, including King Crow; Couples; Café Assassin; Mr Jolly; Four Letter Words; Ill Will: The Untold Story of Heathcliff and Walking the Invisible. He is head of Creative Writing at the University of Huddersfield, where he is editor-in-chief of Grist Books. He is also the creator of the Brontë Stones project, four monumental stones situated in the landscape between the birthplace and the parsonage, inscribed with poems by Kate Bush, Carol Ann Duffy, Jeannette Winterson and Jackie Kay.
