Day trip to Brontë Parsonage & Keighley & Worth Valley Railway

£28.00£30.00

Date: Friday 6 March 2020

Location: Huddersfield, Keighley, Haworth (Collection point in Huddersfield TBC)

Join us for a pre-Festival day-trip to visit the Brontë Parsonage at Haworth, which is celebrating 200 years since the birth of Anne Brontë.  Your trip will include:

  • Executive coach travel from Huddersfield to Keighley.
  • A trip on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway from Keighley to Haworth – there will be opportunities to see several steam locomotives as part of this special Steam Gala Day.
  • Time to explore Haworth and treat yourself to lunch.
  • A 45-minute illustrated talk introducing the fascinating Brontë family, with a particular focus on Anne Brontë. You will learn about Anne’s early life in Haworth, her creation of vivid imaginary worlds with her siblings and the years she spent working as a governess, before turning her hand to writing her astonishing novels.
  • A self-guided tour of the Bronte Parsonage with a chance to see Charlotte Brontë’s ‘Little Book’, recently purchased following a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign. No bigger than a matchbox, this little book is one in a series written by Charlotte when she was just 14, and it contains new and unpublished material about her imaginary world of Angria.
  • Return coach trip from Haworth to Huddersfield.

Please note: we need a minimum of 30 bookings to run this trip – if we have to cancel for any reason the cost of your ticket will be refunded. in the event of bad weather the Festival reserves the right to rearrange the tour and anyone who is unable to make the new date will receive a full refund.
