Primal Scream founder and frontman Bobby Gillespie tells his life story up to the recording and release of the band’s masterpiece Screamadelica, as recounted in his new autobiography Tenement Kid.

One of the most popular and influential British musicians of the past 30 years, Bobby Gillespie was born into a working-class Glaswegian family and left school at 16. Inspired by bands from Thin Lizzy to the Sex Pistols, he joined the Jesus and Mary Chain before forming Primal Scream – the most innovative British band of the 90s.

Published 30 years after the release of Screamadelica, Tenement Kid cuts a righteous path through a decade lost to Thatcherism and saved by acid house.
